Stephen Scoon, Chairman
Stephen Scoon has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of ICON LNG since its founding. He is an active entrepreneur and businessman based in Trinidad and Tobago with more than thirty years of experience in shipping, freight logistics and the bulk sale and transport of petroleum products and building materials for the construction industry throughout the Caribbean. He is a founder and Managing Director of the Fast Freight Group, a leading freight forwarding company based in Trinidad and he is a partner in Aeropost Trinidad and Tobago. He is a director in several logistics companies specializing in the sale and transport of bulk energy and building materials. He holds a Business Management degree from Brooks University in Canada.
John Thompson, Head of Finance and Administration
John Thompson joined ICON LNG at its founding. He brings over twenty five years of experience in finance, operations and project management from his experience at General Electric Capital Corporation as well as his career in private equity where he completed over $600 million in transactions throughout the United States as well Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico. He holds a B.A. in economics from Stanford University and a business degree from Cornell University.
Nelson Garcez, Chief Operating Officer
Nelson Garcez has served as Vice President of Commercial Development since ICON’s founding and leads all the company’s efforts in business development while also managing customer operations. He has over thirty years of experience in the power generation industry. Prior to joining ICON, Mr. Garcez held senior management positions for a large North American utility where he managed projects in fifteen countries totaling more than 6 GW of installed capacity. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil and a Finance diploma from Columbia University.
Hugo Armella, Chief Technology Officer
Hugo Armella is a founding member of ICON’s leadership team and brings more than twenty years of experience in the fields of thermodynamics and cryogenics as the company’s Chief Technology Officer. He is the founder of Infinne LNG a small scale LNG and cryogenic consulting and engineering firm based in the United States. He is also a principal of Armellini S.A. a Colombian based company providing similar engineering and design solutions to oil and gas clients throughout Colombia. Mr. Armella graduated from the Florida International University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and earned an MBA from the University of Los Andes, in Colombia.
Delmar Walcott, Country Manager – Guyana
Delmar Walcott serves as Country Manager of ICON’s Guyana operations and has over eighteen years of experience in investment, education and management. Prior to joining ICON LNG Guyana Inc in 2018, Mr. Walcott served as Managing Director at Pinnacle Solutions Real Estate, a local real estate firm he founded in early 2013. He also served as a manager at AMD Imports, where he streamlined operations and logistics processes related to the importation of motor vehicles into Guyana. Mr. Walcott also spent time in the education sector of Guyana serving at various levels and across various examination boards. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology/Chemistry from the University of Guyana and is currently pursuing an MBA in International Marketing.
